Replacing stove glass is usually straightforward, but ceramic stove glass needs to be fitted correctly. Always refer to the instructions supplied by the stove manufacturer where available.
Core fitting advice
Allow the stove to cool completely before beginning any work.
Wear suitable gloves when handling broken or damaged glass.
If possible, remove the stove door and place it securely on a flat working surface.
Carefully remove the old glass and inspect the glass gasket or sealing material.
We recommend replacing damaged, compressed or deteriorated gasket material when fitting new glass.
Position the replacement glass correctly and refit the retaining clips.
Retaining screws should only be gently hand-tightened. Do not overtighten them.
The glass should not be clamped rigidly into position.
Do not use fire cement as a substitute for the correct glass gasket or sealing system unless the stove manufacturer specifically instructs otherwise.
If you are unsure how your particular stove is assembled, refer to the stove manufacturer's installation instructions or seek professional advice.
